Kamala lost and she deserved to. Trump won and he shouldn’t have. This is the ethical stance. While it can be confusing, it’s right and I stand by its merit. Harris has spent her campaign propping up and paying for a genocide; Trump hasn't based his campaign on it to the same extent, but has vowed to continue it. Neither of these candidates are good for people living in the Middle East who fear that an American-made bomb will kill them, which is a reality that happens every day.
Being a leftist means looking past electoral politics– gritting your teeth and accepting the discomfort it will bring to your existence, knowing it will hopefully, in time, help those much less fortunate in war-torn parts of the world and in low-income households across the United States. Biden and Harris supported Israel with no red lines for over a year and they lost fair and square. They are bad people. Their loss, unfortunately, made Trump the winner. While this is awful news, it is what happens when no candidate steps up and does what needs to be done: support the victims of a brutal genocide and offer support for those living in poverty at home.
The good news is that liberals across America can now call this ‘Trump’s Genocide’ and turn against it while still supporting their favourite parasocial political relationships. I don’t think this will be enough to end the slaughter but it will be more opposition than we have now and more than we’ve had the entire year. The way to end liberalism is to show those who wish to be elected that it isn’t going to work for them, that AIPAC support means you will lose. Only through liberal candidates losing will this message ever get through, only through these losses will it ever be reinforced. This is progress, this is what’s next for leftism in America. And if you disagree, that's fine, but this is our reality. In real life, right now, this is the only way forward: use your vote wisely and never for something you don’t wholeheartedly believe in. Vote third party or write in candidates if you don’t believe in the Democrats. Don’t give them the false impression that you support their policies because they will take your vote and turn it into an endorsement for genocide time and time again. Reject liberalism and neoconservatism in every form. Reject the false dichotomy of the two party system. Doing this is the only way to move the needle, to become a more progressive nation.
What’s next is using this moment to say no.
Say no to genocide.
Say no to the liberalism that props it up.
Say no to voting against your morals and your beliefs.
The future depends on all of us and while it will be very hard for a lot of people to live through another Trump term, we can only hope for a better future if those working against our beliefs are defeated; even if they're Democrats.
